It’s been a long time since we did our last blog and normally, we cover what we’ve been up to, new equipment purchases and competitions, but this time we want to give you an inside to who the people behind Gedling Castles are.
So, who are we?
Well, we are Molly and Colin, two 23-year olds (at the time of writing this) who have a great passion for the entertainment and events industry, we thoroughly enjoy providing fantastic entertainment to many and knowing we’ve made the day a bit more special.
We know what you are thinking...
How did two 23-year olds end up with over 40 inflatables, rodeo’s, simulators, fun foods and many other great entertainment activities? Well, it all began when Colin was just 15, yes you read that correctly 15-years old.
The Journey
Colin started in the events industry when he was 15, he borrowed speakers from the school music department and offered kids discos at local pubs, after a couple of gigs he reinvested the money and purchased his equipment which kept getting bigger and bigger to the point storing in his bedroom was no longer an option!
By the time Colin reached 17, he was providing full sound systems and tech support for beer festivals, music events and village carnivals, and Molly was tagging along to his gigs with her camera!
Molly and Colin went to Didcot in Oxfordshire for their annual beer festival, no not to drink silly, we weren’t old enough for that, we provided a full sound system for their outdoor stage which is where we met a bouncy castle man! During breaks, we got chatting to the bouncy castle man and that’s all it took, we left Didcot 2 days later and brought our first bouncy castle, a bright yellow clown jungle theme bouncy castle and Gedling Bouncy Castle Hire was born!
After having the bouncy castle for less than a year we quickly swapped it out for two different bouncy castles. The demand was there so we kept buying more and more each year. To begin with, we were never as organised and experienced as we are today, but experience comes as time goes on.
Today it’s been 5 years since we began our business and the experience grows daily, we learn more and more with every customer, we are so thankful to them for the continued support especially those who have been with us from the start and there is defiantly a few!
Alongside all this activity we also studied at University with both graduating with degrees in our area, Molly’s being Photography and Colin’s being Events. It doesn’t stop there we have more learning on the cards and hope to expand our empire into Childcare and Soft Play Centres taking on a great team of staff!
